Robotic Hearts

My first collaboration with Yellowknife artist Aidan Cartwright.

Part of the Electroacoustic Emergence project, this film uses hand-drawn animations.

The soundtrack is an electroacoustic work I completed called “Robo-Ptarmi-Calls”, which I then gave to Aidan. He made the animations, putting a slight Aidanesque twist on my sound-source (the ptarmigan: a small white northern bird).

Aidan’s note on the animation: “A short loop based animation made in response to the audio soundtrack ‘Robo-Ptarmi Calls’ by Carmen Braden. Inspired by the resemblance of ‘cleaned’ ptarmigan looking like small hearts with feet.”
